Drone / UAV Inspection

Aerial Visual and Thermal Assessment

Overview

Drone inspection provides high-resolution visual and thermal imagery of structures that are difficult, dangerous, or expensive to access by conventional means. SiteOps uses drone inspection for initial assessment of facades, roofs, chimneys, towers, and elevated structures.

The commercial benefit is access cost reduction. A drone survey can be completed in a single day, providing sufficient visual information to determine whether detailed investigation is warranted and where access should be focused.

SiteOps deploys drones equipped with high-resolution optical cameras (48MP+) and FLIR thermal cameras. Optical imagery is processed into ortho-mosaics and 3D photogrammetric models for detailed condition assessment.

All drone operations are conducted by CASA-certified remote pilots in compliance with Part 101 requirements.

Applications

  • Facade Condition Screening

Rapid visual assessment identifying cracking, spalling, staining, and displacement.

  • Post-Disaster Assessment

Aerial damage documentation following cyclone, storm, or fire events.

  • Roof & Elevated Inspection

Visual and thermal inspection without scaffold or rope access.

  • Thermal Defect Detection

Infrared scanning for moisture, delamination, and insulation defects.

  • Heritage Recording

Aerial photography and photogrammetry of heritage structures.

FAQ

Common questions

Can drone inspection replace scaffold inspection?+

Drone replaces visual inspection for screening but cannot replace physical testing. SiteOps uses drones to focus subsequent scaffold investment on critical areas.

What regulatory requirements apply?+

Commercial operations require CASA Remote Operator Certificate and certified pilots. SiteOps manages all regulatory requirements.
